But that forces the player to sacrifice inventory slots for single purpose equipment. I think the design expectation was that you actually use the little tricks to get around that. In fact, the creatures didn't feel like wild animals to me because of it, they felt like video game enemies who didn't have any regard for their safety. The attacks in BZ are far more frequent, to the point of being a genuine annoyance. Other than leviathans and Bonesharks, most everything else in the original didn't bother you if you just kept your distance. I find the fauna in this game much more aggressive than the ones in the original Subnautica, making the option of "leaving them alone" a lot more difficult. I felt bad for the motherless pups you see in the area, but if I can't even make it through a cave without being constantly bothered, I'm taking out the creature. After constantly getting attacked by Snow Stalkers every time I'd get lost, I just started circle strafing and killing them on sight - 5 thermal blade hits and they go down. It's one thing not to f with nature it's quite another not to be able to defend yourself from unsolicited attacks that could kill you. I ironically found that this behavior encouraged me to actively kill creatures just to get them to leave me alone. ![]() ![]()
